ACTION missionaries Rick & Liz Marshall minister in Guayama, Puerto Rico, and invite others to join them.
While Puerto Rico is a tropical paradise, many of the 4 million residents share a sense of "hopelessness".Widespread poverty (45% of the population), high unemployment (over 22% in the city of Guayama), high crime rate (1,000 murders per year), drug abuse, rampant government and police corruption, and a high dropout rate, have contributed to a generation of self-centeredness and apathy.
Hopeless? No. What this emerging generation (and every other) needs is the hope and joy that are found in Jesus Christ.
Rick currently teaches 4th grade Math and Science at Fountain Christian Bilingual School, and volunteers with the Pastor of the local church focusing on outreach to the local drug recovery homes and youth prison.
Liz helps out at the school and counsels children and women in the community.
