Colombia

Colombia is a place that has charm, beauty, and love. A country that is the size of Texas and California put together. But we of ACTION Colombia want tell you why we work in this paradise.

Phil and Mariela Legal live and work in Bogotá. Phil is the Director of ACTION Colombia. They have a passion for the poor. Almost 50 percent of Colombia lives below the UN Poverty line and 15 percent subsist in chronic poverty (such as starvation, lack of housing and medical care, and not having access to education). The ministry consists of children's ministries, church planting and leadership training, community and social development.

Raquel de Jesus is involved in Bible study and discipleship to former street kids and their families. Her ministry is located in the barrio, Juan Pablo II, located in the largest region of Bogotá known as Ciudad Bolivar. The work includes Bible clubs for children and youth, adult Bible studies, street children ministry, camping ministry and medical care and feeding outreach. At the present a church has been started and a ministry center is under construction.

Roger and Elsa Sieber live in Bogotá and their ministry is dedicated to disciple a group of disabled. Their overall goal is to reach out to all of Colombia, impacting not only the disabled with the hope in Jesus Christ, but to teach society that the disabled of the world are a very useful part of society. Their outreach involves the following:  Bible studies, discipleship, medicine purchase and delivery, and transportation. They have started a church that paraplegics can attend with their families and loved ones.

Denis and  Sheila Garzón work with street outreach, children's clubs, youth and ladies
Bible studies and discipleship. They work in the barrio Sucre, in the region of Usme in southeast
Bogotá. This is one of the poorest areas of Bogotá where fifty-seven percent live below the
United Nations Poverty Standards.  Their work includes children and adult ministries, and a youth outreach. They have an extensive training program for nationals to be
ministerial workers. The highlight is a church being started and has twenty-five regular
attendees. Their goal is to put the Sucre ministry in the hands of the nationals in five years.

Currently, ACTION Colombia needs the following positions filled:
