They have three children, Bobby ('76), Peter ('78), and Pami ('82). and one grandchild.

Paul and Pat team teach a 22-lesson course about the practical side of progressive sanctification, especially targeting the poor  pastors of the Philippines.

They have been trained under the Biblical Counseling Foundation and are qualified instructors for teaching the Self-Confrontation course.

Why Life Discipleship?

God has an eternal plan for reaching the world with His message.

Jesus instructed His disciples to make disciples of all nations, teaching them ALL that He commanded (Matthew 28:19-20). Many discipleship programs in the church today center on doctrine. That is necessary.

Central to God's plan for reaching the world is His purpose for every believer to be conformed to the image of the Lord Jesus Christ. "For we know that all things work together for good... to become conformed to the image of His Son." (Romans 8:28-29). This part of God's plan is accomplished through the believer's steady growth into Christ-likeness. This, too, requires discipleship.

Many believers still have marital problems, arguments, disputes and broken relationships. Many live with anger, bitterness, depression, fear and worry. We struggle with old habits that have been with us for a long time. Is there a difference in the Christian's daily life?

Neighbors and people around us are watching to see what is different about us. Discipleship for Christian living brings about changes as we put off old habits and put on the new.

Life Discipleship is designed to train church leaders for the task of discipling those under their care in the practice of steady Christ-like character and Spiritual growth. Trainees will study Scripture and receive resource materials to:

Look at God's view in common situations, Give us hope, especially in difficult situations, Understand what changes we need to make in order to live obediently as unto the Lord's Begin to implement the practice of being a doer of the Word.

Why Self-Confrontation?

Scripture tells us to examine (or confront) and humble ourselves.

Paul writes, if we judge ourselves we would not come under judgment.

(1 Corinthians 11:31). Jesus taught in Matthew that before we disciple others, we need to judge ourselves. First remove the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye (Matthew 7:1-5). Self-Confrontation is a training course on how you can evaluate your thoughts, words and deeds in the light of God's Word and will help you to discern whether you are seeking to please yourself or seeking to please God in all you think and do. You will learn processes of biblical change and have tools to become a doer of the Word and not a hearer only (James 1:22). You will be equipped for God to use you in basic life-discipleship as you obey His Word (John 14:21).

The resource material is entitled Self-Confrontation. It is published by the Biblical Counseling Foundation of California, USA, and it is the first course in their series for the training of biblical counselors in the context of the church. This course is also for the purpose of in-depth discipleship for members of the local church. You can find out more at http://www.bcfministries.org.
