Tonya Wilson Preparing to Serve in Brazil

January 28th

Tonya Wilson is currently preparing for her upcoming move to Fortaleza to minister to children at Davis Lar Orphanage. Tonya has a Bachelor of Science in Christian Ministry and a Master of Ministry in Missions. She has seven years of experience working with abused and neglected children in the state foster care systems of Georgia and South Carolina. Short-term missions trips in Albania, Israel, Ukraine, Uganda, Kenya, and Thailand have also prepared her for this assignment.

Tonya will begin working with the staff at Davis Lar Children's Home to develop a foster care program. The social services program in Brazil provides safe homes for children who have been abused, neglected or abandoned. These children may have been victimized by their parents or caregivers. Some have been rescued from child slavery or child prostitution. Other children have simply been living on the street and need a safe place to call home and to know that they are loved unconditionally. It is essential to tell them about the love and hope offered in Christ!

Tonya says, “I will be going to Davis Lar at the end of March 2010. My plan is to be at Davis Lar for about a week and then will return to the United States to finish raising financial support. I hope to move to Fortaleza in August 2010. Please pray that God will direct every step of this transition.”
