Daryl and Sharon were both short-term ACTION missionaries from the Seattle area when they met in the Philippines in 1984. January of 1986 found them married and back in the Philippines to learn the Tagalog language and to start the Auto Shop training course at 2nd Mile. In a few years time, the Auto Shop course came under a new name, Working Hands, at Second Mile. Underprivileged Christian young men are being trained in auto mechanics and also being discipled. Daryl and Sharon have three children: Candice (9/15/1986), Tyler (2/2/1988), and Hilary 12/30/1989). In the past few years, as the children have grown and needed less time with mom, Sharon has begun to teach sewing to underprivileged Christian young women in the Mustard Seed program. Their sending churches are Highlands Community Church in Renton, Washington; Lighthouse Free Methodist Church in Lynnwood, Washington; and First Christian Church in Freewater, Oregon.

Daryl has written a guide for establishing a program to integrate street children into society and life by giving them a vocation that is competitive in the real world, along with Scriptural values inculcation.  Click here to read it.
