Jared and Cheryl, together with their sons Toby and Jairus, are excited to come on board with ACTION, teaming up with Helmuth Graewe and Mark and Cheryl Sorell in training and sending young people out to spread the gospel of Christ.
Jared has a musical background, playing guitar and bass in numerous bands in and out of the church from an early age. He has a B.A. in Worship Arts from Steinbach Bible College. He also likes drawing and working on old cars.
Cheryl has a degree in graphic arts from Red River Community College in Winnipeg and is currently drawing her own comic strip, Commander Broccoli which is published in The Carillon, the Steinbach, MB newspaper, and online. She has a passion for creating art that communicates spiritual truths, especially for children. Toby and Jairus have both inherited, and are soon to exceed, their parents’ artistic skills.
After Jared graduated from SBC in 2007, the Nickels headed west for a year of work with Venture Teams International, Jared doing lodge maintenance and music, and Cheryl with chalk art training. They are anticipating making the trip a second time, this time for a much longer duration, with roles in youth, music and chalk art training, as well as mobilization and graphic design. They also anticipate a great emphasis on forming disciples of Jesus from the inside out with this new ACTION ministry.
