The Norquists started Rancho de los Niños in 2004. Their purpose is two-fold:

First, to provide kids with a loving, Christian home where they are welcomed, wanted, and worthy and loved.

Second, to share the love of Christ and the plan of salvation with them so they can be assured of an eternal home in heaven.

With these goals in mind, they are different from other orphanages in at least two ways.   First, they live with the children as family. Secondly, children with disabilities are warmly welcomed into the home.   In fact, the Rancho is the only children's home in the state of Sinaloa that accepts children with disabilities. As a result, about two-thirds of the 27 children at the Rancho have varying degrees of disabilities including Down syndrome, blindness, cerebral palsy, and mental retardation.

The children range in ages from 5 years to 22. All are provided with medical care, physical therapy, and vision and dental care as necessary.

The goal is to find permanent homes for the children who are able to be adopted.  Currently we have seven children in process for adoption and one waiting for an adoptive family to choose him.  For the others, long-term care is provided in a family atmosphere.
