Martin and Lorna are both from Alberta, Canada, and have served together with Action International Ministries in the Philippines and Canada the past 27 years in jail, street children, church planting related, setting up a coordinating ministry office for 44 churches in Mandaluyong City, pastoring among Filipino Indians and appropriate technology ministries. Martin and Lorna are members of Bethany Baptist Church in Red Deer. Before moving to the Philippines, Martin served there as Assistant Pastor for one year. Martin has a BRE from Prairie Bible College and a BEd from the University of Calgary.  He has done some Masters courses in Sustainability in the Built Environment, Social Entrepreneurship, has completed a course in soil microbiology and has a certificate in Permaculuture Design.  Lorna is a graduate of Prairie Bible College. They have four children, Kristina 24, Daniel 22, Nicole 20 and Jonathan 18. If someone were to ask you how to describe our ministry, you could say, "Martin & Lorna are focused on Discipling the Whole person.  They share God's Word and train in sustainability living especially among the poor."

During their time in the Philippines, Martin and Lorna have been involved in jail ministry, outreach to street children and their families, church planting among the urban poor and city transformation in Mandaluyong City (Mahn-da-loo'-yong) with the Mandaluyong Christian Churches Association (MCCA). They pastored the Fil-Indian Fellowship for 2 years and experimented with backyard sustainability projects for 5 years. They now work  with appropriate technologies for poverty families seeking to help them become sustainable through primarily permaculture (permanent agriculture) or creation designs.

Martin is currently identifying existing ministries in ACTION that are more sustainability oriented.  He is exploring the possibility of setting up a sustainability training center with Philippine national church leadership.
