Crystal moved to the Philippines on July 30, 2003 to serve as a career missionary with ACTION. Her calling is to develop the Mt. Pleasant Health Center in partnership with the Village Handcrafters Inc. By providing compassionate medical care, Crystal and her team hope to introduce many Filipinos to Christ's grace and love. Crystal graduated from the University of Alberta with a degree in nursing and has had three years of experience working as a nurse in Edmonton, Alberta. During a seven-month mission trip in 2001, Crystal was exposed to the rampant poverty many Filipinos experience and she was excited to return to serve God through medical care. She married Jerry Valdez in 2004.
