Scovia at Graduation
Home of Love Children’s Home for Vulnerable Children is a ministry of ACTION Gulu. Home of Love was opened to meet the needs of orphans and vulnerable children in war-torn Northern Uganda. Candis Bingham shared the following story about a little girl named Scovia in a recent newsletter.
“Scovia came to Home of Love when she was three years old. She was found severely malnourished living with her very elderly grandmother in one of the many IDP (Internally Displaced Peoples) camps in our area during the LRA rebel war. Her mother had died and her father did not want her, so she was left with a grandmother who could not care for her properly.
“Home of Love is the perfect name for our children’s home. Scovia was very shy, but slowly flourished in all ways due to good healthcare and food, but most of all because of the love shown to her not only by those who work at the orphanage, but also by the other children. Scovia still has a quiet spirit, but she is a very loving child.
“She started at our nursery school that is located on the same grounds as Home of Love. As you can see by her kindergarten graduation picture, she is blossoming into a very special young child. She was so excited to have her hair done and wear a graduation gown and hat. We praise the Lord for Scovia and believe that she was chosen by God to be at Home of Love.”

English Class
Karen Singleton teaches grammar and composition to students at Baptist Theological Seminary in Lusaka, Zambia. She recently began a new semester with her students.
Karen writes, “School is in session once again and I have seven students in my class. We just had our first lesson. After a time of getting to know one another I asked the class what they expected from this course. We spent the rest of the class period doing dictionary drills and working in groups to alphabetize words.
“I truly enjoyed today and think I have a great group! Would you please pray for my students? Their names are Karen, Isaac, Stephen, Davy, Mary, Victor, and Andrew.”

Paul and Jean Goodner
Paul and Jean Goodner are ACTION missionaries based in the Seattle area. They represent ACTION and mobilize God’s people for global missions at churches, Christian schools, and mission conferences. Paul is also involved in the ministry of sustainable church multiplication.
Paul writes, “So far this year we have been involved in representation and mobilization. This involves educating, updating and encouraging the body of Christ in general missions and about Action International Ministries specifically. We consider it a tremendous privilege to represent what God is doing in the world. It is also an honor to share what God is doing in our lives. One of the things we have discovered is that the Lord is always at work. Our response is to join Him and obey when He calls. We pray that this would be true in our lives as well as yours.”

Children with Gifts
Nita Vargas writes, “We want to thank you all for helping with outreach activities this Christmas. We praise the Lord for providing the funds. We started the activities inside, but when the number of children grew, we moved outside. The gifts, candy, and chickens were a blessing to those who attended.
“May God bless you all for your generous giving.”

Children with Gifts
Jeff Anderson writes, “ACTION’s Street Impact Team held 30 evangelistic Christmas parties for street children, poor families, and prisoners. Over 4500 people attended the parties; 3482 indicated they turned from sin and trusted Christ as Saviour. All parties were filled with faith, fun, food, and the theme ‘Christmas is filled with hope when we know Christ’ with messages based on John 10:10.”
Moneth, a girl who attended a party, writes, “John 10:10 taught me how to be strong now that I am a child of God because He has a wonderful plan for my life. I received Jesus Christ and I pray that as I attend Bible study I will learn more from Him.”
Pastor Rey partnered with ACTION to put on a Christmas party. He writes, “Our church would like to thank ACTION for their help and training as we reached underprivileged families in our neighborhood for Christ. Through this Christmas party we were able to start community outreach activities and Bible studies.”

Tyler Dingman
Tyler Dingman writes, “I will be leaving for Lusaka on March 27! To say I am excited would be an understatement. I cannot thank those that have prayed, donated, and supported me. God has been leading me on an incredible journey for the last year.”
Tyler will be living and working at Ciyanjano Center outside of Lusaka helping to make the property economically sustainable as well as doing other things like media production, donor engagement, and research and development for future income generation projects. Please pray for him as he begins his life and ministry in Lusaka.

Children with Gifts
Raquel de Jesús, ACTION missionary in Colombia, writes, “On December 7 we held an evangelistic Christmas party for 100 children in Bella Flor barrio. The purpose of the party was to preach God’s word. The children learned that Jesus is with us and that His life is a gift that we do not deserve. The teaching was clear and God used the words spoken by Pastor Edwin to touch the hearts of the children.
“The children enjoyed singing songs after the teaching. They also participated in a game in which they had to answer questions about the teaching. It was very clear to us through their answers that they understood what Pastor Edwin had shared. At the end of the day, each child received a delicious meal and a gift. We pray that these children will continue to appreciate God’s teaching for the rest of their lives and that they will share the Lord in their homes and communities.”

Zambian Girls
Karen Singleton, missionary in Lusaka, writes, “Zambian mothers carry their babies on their backs, wrapping them skillfully with a piece of colorful cloth. Several girls, imitating their mothers, caught my eye on a recent walk. They had their dolls strapped to their backs.
“While these girls may be playing, they are also preparing for their future roles as mothers, if God wills. Would you pray for God’s richest blessing on the lives of these girls and the Zambian people we work with on a daily basis?”

Eating Lunch
Raquel de Jesús, missionary in Bogotá, Colombia, strives to meet the physical needs of former street kids as she ministers to them spiritually through Bible study and discipleship. She runs a feeding program which provides these children with nutritious food to fill their bellies.
Would you please take a moment and lift these children up in prayer? Pray that each one will come to know the Lord and follow Him wholeheartedly.
