Zambia: Financial Officer
The Financial Officer will direct the affairs of finance, legal reporting (including taxes and tariffs), employment and national staff, property and equipment contract/titles, and communication systems in Lusaka, Zambia.
Responsibilities
- Set up banking and accounting procedures consistent with generally accepted financial procedures.
- Direct and manage ACTION’s computerized accounting, bank accounts, other assets and liabilities.
- Provide financial reports for the Country Board (if applicable), Regional Coordinator, JVA countries (as applicable) and sending country offices.
- Supervise the annual corporate audit
- Assist the Country Director in the preparation of the Annual Ministries and Project Proposals and Budgets.
- Provide supervision for the Financial Manager (bookkeeper).
- Coordinate the hiring, orientation and training, pay scales and firing of the employees of the organization in compliance with country laws and best practice.
- Manage severance and other obligation funds.
- Responsible for Labor Code revisions as they pertain to employee/employer relations.
- Responsible for the purchase, titles, insurance coverage, licensing, check in/out, repair, drivers, vehicle safety or all mission owned vehicles.
Qualifications
- Absolute honesty and integrity
- Familiarity with financial software and computers
- Ability to work independently and organize time well
- Minimum commitment of two years
- At least 18 years old
- A growing Christian
- Active in ministry in a local church
- Recommended by pastor and church
- Teachable
- Adaptable
- Able to accept difficult circumstances
- Good sense of humor
- Not easily discouraged
- Spiritually mature
- Able to accept various leadership styles
