USA: Summer Technical & Computer Assistant
The Summer Technical & Computer Assistant will work in the ACTION USA Office in Mountlake Terrace, WA, and assist the ACTS staff in providing technical support to those in the USA office and to missionaries remotely. This program is essentially an unpaid techno-missions internship experience.
Responsibilities
The ACTION USA office has approximately 30 staff and missionaries coming and going all the time. As a STCA intern, depending on your skill set, you might get involved with any of these support areas:
The Summer Technical & Computer Assistant will work in the ACTION USA Office in Mountlake Terrace, WA, and assist the ACTS staff in providing technical support to those in the USA office and to missionaries remotely. This program is essentially an unpaid techno-missions internship experience.
Responsibilities
The ACTION USA office has approximately 30 staff and missionaries coming and going all the time. As a STCA intern, depending on your skill set, you might get involved with any of these support areas:
- Office helpdesk (anything and everything).
- Missionary helpdesk (in person at the office and remotely).
- Server management (Windows and Linux).
- VOIP phone management (25+ phones and remote softphones).
- Network support (wired, wireless, switches, multiple networks).
- Business copier support (from the tech side of networked printing).
- Windows (XP/Vista/7), Mac, and Linux OS.
- Two week minimum time commitment (flexible dates ranging from early May to end of September)
- At least one high school/college computer course on how to build and fix computers or personal technical experience assisting family and friends with their computers
- Willingness to learn
- Willingness to serve the LORD by serving others
- Desire to help and support
- Understanding technology is not the solution, but a tool
- Ability to be flexible with your time and skills
- Wisdom to double-check the steps before a more severe technical problem occurs
- Freely sharing proven solutions with others
- At least 16 years old
- A growing Christian
- Active in ministry in a local church
- Recommended by pastor and church
- Teachable
- Adaptable
- Able to accept difficult circumstances
- Good sense of humor
- Not easily discouraged
- Spiritually mature
- Able to accept various leadership styles
- Other items set forth by the Candidate Secretary’s office
