Smrittee R.

Smrittee comes from a poor and tragic family background. Her parents divorced due to her father's alcoholism and family violence. Her mother remarried, but Smrittee stayed with her father.

She went to live with her grandparents when her father traveled to India to find work. Tragically, her father was killed by a train in India. Soon, her grandparents could no longer care for Smrittee, so she was referred to Hope Home for care in 2019.

In Nepal, parentless children are very open to exploitation and many are sold to sex traders by impoverished families for up to Rs 6000 ($53 USD). In Nepal, some 50 girls are trafficked into India on a daily basis into the sex trade.
