Angola

Send a Note Start a Campaign

Angola is currently living out the results of more than 30 years of civil war, which left many consequences in the country at all levels of society. Today, enormous challenges impact all areas of society, including education, health, housing, and infrastructure. All this has led to many crises and has left entire communities in great need. In our target community, there are children starving every day.

The Varãos ministry focuses on training leaders in local churches, specifically by teaching an intensive 3-month course of Inductive Bible Study and ministering to children in crisis.

The children in crisis ministry is called Projeto SER - Serve, Build, and Restore. It is a community-based project that aims to reach about 100 children at risk in a community called Cabaia in the municipality of Catumbela Praia, in Benguela Province, Angola. About 8,000 people live in this community, the majority of whom are children. It is a community that lives below the poverty line, there is no basic sanitation, there is no electricity, and there is only one government primary school from grade one to six, which only serves about 10% of the children of the community. The index of infant mortality, illiteracy, and unemployment is one of the highest in the world.
