Uganda: Jesus Is The Truth School – Van
Students at Jesus is the Truth Nursery and Primary School come from around the city to attend classes. One of the vans used for transporting students to and from school is worn
out and needs to be replaced. To make it possible for children to attend JITT, a reliable van service is necessary. Giving to this project ensures safe and reliable school transportation for
JITT’s many students.
The mission of Jesus is the Truth nursery and primary school is to glorify God by demonstrating His love to the vulnerable children of Gulu through excellent, Bible-saturated Christian education.
2014 saw the re-opening of the school after significant restructuring, training, and preparation. It was a wonderful school year filled with quiet stories of lives changed, one child at a time, one family at a time.
Upon our reopening, the government mandated that the school charge reasonable school fees as a means of self-sustainability and to promote a sense responsibility within the community.
As the school year progressed, it became evident that several of our pupils were truly vulnerable in many senses of the word. They are exposed to potential danger through either poverty, abusive or absent parents, and other factors. As we enter the lives of our pupils, we are compelled by the Word of God to love the families in our school – and in some cases, to offer financial assistance.
This scholarship program focuses on providing school fees to specific Jesus is the Truth nursery and primary school pupils who have been identified as especially vulnerable or whose special needs cause their school expenses to be higher than those affordable to the family.
You can find more about these precious children and how to help by sending an email to the our School Director.
Jesus is the Truth (JITT) Nursery and Primary School is in an exciting time of transition – just like the community in which it operates. In the last few years, Gulu has been recovering from war. It was a time for rescue and relief.
Now that peace has settled, Gulu is learning that emergency measures are not meant to last forever. Now is the time to build for the future. It is time to raise a generation born in peace. It is time to lay solid foundations.
Since the school’s temporary closure in 2013, its leadership has been looking more closely at the needs of the community it serves, and how they can best be served. The undeniable conclusion it has arrived at is that for anything to have firm foundations, it must be built on the gospel of Jesus Christ.
JITT is committed to come alongside Acholi families in the effort to train up the next generation with a truly biblical worldview, even while equipping children to love and thrive in their own culture.
JITT welcomes this challenge to a new beginning in Gulu. We believe God has put the school in this community at this time to do the work of laying solid foundations from the Word of God in the hearts of children. We strive to do this in the grace of God.
