Malawi: Bibles for Pastors

Send a Note Start a Campaign
You are familiar with Jesus words to the Jews who were following him. “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:31-32) You have also heard Paul’s strong admonition to Timothy, his son in the faith, “Do your best to present yourself to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15)

But, how can these Scriptures be applied to the leaders in the churches of Malawi, Southern Africa, when only 10% of rural pastors possess their own Bibles? I once asked a group of pastors, how they study the Bible. They told me that they share.

The lack of Biblical teaching has taken a toll upon the villages of Malawi. The Jehovah Witnesses and the Mormons are flooding the area. The Muslims are also pouring into Malawi, with lots of money to influence the children and youth of the poor. Tribal traditions encourage immorality and most marriages do not come close to enjoying the kind of loving relationships Jesus intended for his people. On any given Sunday what you will hear coming from the pulpit is an evangelistic message.

Our goal is to place at least 2,000 Bibles into the hands of needy pastors over 5 years. In the first 3 years, we have delivered over 600 Bibles, and hope to complete this goal in the next 2 years; we have a ways to go and we need your help.

Just US$10 will put a Bible into the hands of these Church leaders. I can promise you this. They will cherish your gift.
