We are late but happy bloomers in overseas missions with quite a story to tell over the past 19+ years. We have been in Boquete Panama since Nov. 2017. We are the first and only ACTION missionaries in this new country for ACTION Int’l. that sends workers all over the world. We are a married couple serving the Lord in community-based care and outreach.  But, we didn’t start this wild and impossible journey here in Panama, but… instead, in the squatter’s communities of Manila, the maximum security prisons of the Philippines located on two islands, and in humanitarian relief and community development on the Visayan Islands.

In July 2017 we left Manila Philippines which was our actual home since 2001 complete with friends and purpose. Manila became our only home after liquidating everything we owned, kissing our kids and grandkids goodbye and following the call of God to the mission field in our 50’s.  What crazy love is that? In 2017, we turned over all our work and ministries on all the different islands to those we had trained and mentored; our work was completed and God had another plan for us.  So, we again liquidated all we had and said ‘Yes, Lord.’ (it does become easier to let go of material things and simplify to just a few suitcases?)

We sat with our son Johnny as he said goodbye to this world and hello to Heaven. And then, it was time to move on. We had been on Filipino TV and even mentioned in books. We had helped children in crisis, mentored male inmates in maximum security (including alleged terrorists) in New Bilibid National Penitentiary, ladies in the two women’s prisons to be found in Manila and on the southern island of Mindanao. The horrific typhoon in 2013 named Haiyan…Yolanda in the Philippines….devastated the Visayan Islands yet opened the door for God’s word to bring hope and help through our FACE 2 FACE ministry. Our hearts of compassion were compelled to do humanitarian relief though we didn’t know a thing but trusted God’s way and wisdom to provide so much of what we lacked. We expanded into community development helping to rebuild homes, schools, churches and lives through the grace of God and generosity of financial partners. It was God-amazing and the communities continue still to be vibrant and the light to a formerly hopeless people group.

We are faith workers and receive no salary from ACTION but trust God to provide financially through people who are the givers, pray-ers and senders in this missionary work through ACTION International and called FACE 2 FACE. We pray you will consider being a partner with us. Our partners are important to us and prayed for specifically by name. Thank you.
