“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.” Romans 1:16

Colombia has always had a special place in my heart. I gravitate toward its people and culture. Growing up in a first world country with a third world perspective allowed me to experience the world differently than my peers. Growing up Christian, however, completely changed my life. Throughout my time in elementary, middle, and high school, I was always a part of a church and a youth group. Whether it was attending summer camp at Ponderosa Pines or distributing food on Monday afternoons, one could easily find me serving somewhere. I didn’t consider these activities mundane or a list of things I needed to check off to be a “Christian”, I genuinely loved to serve.

Now in college, this desire to serve still consumes me. I am surrounded by people of all walks of life, and I spend most of time living life with fellow believers. My opportunities to serve have increased and I have had a great mentor to follow. Jesus told his disciples to "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” Those seem like pretty clear instructions to me, and Colombia is a wonderful place to start. I am not entirely sure what God has in store for me. A part of this trip hinders on me trusting Him completely: both financially and spiritually, and to allow Him to do wonderful things in my life and in the lives of the people I interact with. I know, however, that whatever I will be doing it will be for His glory, not my own. Whether it is talking to a young child or washing plates, each of these things are an integral part of the process of what God wants to do in my life.

This summer, I will spend 6 weeks in the heart of Bogotá. I will be working alongside ACTION missionaries and their church partners. We will be speaking life into people and preaching the good news of a wonderful savior. Throughout this journey I ask that you support me and the team in Bogotá through prayer. With prayer and supplication anything is possible, and I ask that while you pray for success in Colombia, if you find it in your heart to support me financially that you do so with a joyous spirit. I greatly appreciate any type of support and I thank God for all the prayers.

My life has been a series of events that range from wonderful to unfortunate. But in the midst of it all, God has always been there. He is the cornerstone of my life. He is the reason I have joy in the morning and why I am able to get through life everyday, because I know I have an all-powerful, all-loving, and all-knowing father. I am blessed by the life He has given me, by the people he has placed in my life, and by the love he demonstrates each and everyday. I thank God for all that He has done in my life and I wish that I can attempt to reciprocate even a small fraction of His love to other people.
