Erica grew up in Frederick, Maryland and has had a strong heart for the Lord and for teaching, evangelism, and discipleship from a young age. In high school, she was able to go on a mission trip to Brazil, and God continued to provide opportunities for her to go overseas while majoring in Mathematics at Liberty University. Throughout her time at Liberty, Erica went on mission trips each summer to China, Mongolia, and South Korea, and it was through these trips that she felt the Lord calling her to teach overseas as a way to build relationships with students and share the Gospel.

After teaching at an international school in South Korea for close to eight years, Erica is now teaching at Faith Academy in Manila. While teaching at her previous school, Erica led a team of high school students on short-term mission trips each year to an orphanage in the Philippines and gradually felt the Lord leading her to one day serve Christ among Filipinos.

While praying for God to open a door for her to serve in the Philippines, her pastor mentioned Faith Academy and its need for a high school mathematics teacher. Different from the school Erica previously taught at in South Korea, Faith Academy began in 1957 to support missionaries overseas in Southeast Asia by providing a school for their children to attend. By partnering with missionaries and their families and by providing a Christ-centered education, Faith Academy helps to keep missionaries on the field and engaged fully in the work God has given them to do. By teaching mathematics in the high school, Erica is a part of the unique opportunity Faith Academy has to support missions in Asia while also sharing the Gospel with her students and discipling them in Christ.
