Mario & Lika Milhomem

Send a Note Start a Campaign
Mario and Lika are both Brazilian. Mario is from the state of Tocantins in north Brazil and Lika was born in the state of Parana in south Brazil, but her parents (Jonas and Iria Braun, also ACTION missionaries) served in Ecuador for over 20 years where Lika studied in an American school and then went to college in California where she graduated with and Art degree in December of 2004 from Azusa Pacific University. Lika joined ACTION in 2004 and returned to Brazil where she meet Mario who was serving the Lord as a missionary through YWAM (Youth With A Mission). Mario holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Service from the University of Tocantins in the north of Brazil. He also holds a degree in Christian Ministries from the University of the Nations and has been in missions for the past 18 years.

After 10 years being a YWAM Base leader in Brazil, they decided to move to Africa. In the year 2017 they moved to the small town of Worcester in South Africa to start a new ministry focusing in two things: Leadership Training and Children in Crises.
  1. Our vision is to equip leaders so they can have the ability to bring the Gospel of Christ to their own people in their language and culture. This will make the gospel expand more quickly and efficiently. Countries such as Malawi, Mozambique, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Angola and others suffer greatly from the lack of biblical training for the people and this leads to misleading scripture teaching.
  2. We have also developed a work with Children at Risk, we aim to take them out of the streets after school and thus give them a teaching opportunity, such as music, theater, art, football and computer classes. In this way we believe that in addition to showing Jesus as the only hope we also give a better opportunity with a more promising future. The drug index in South Africa is very high so children and adolescents get involved too early in the use of methamphetamine, some at the age of 10 having a life expectancy of only 10 years. In our project we take the children out of the streets and give a new future.

In South Africa, besides having great ministerial needs and being a starting point for all African countries, we also have the privilege of living in one of the most beautiful places on the African continent with leisure opportunities like mountain bike, Enduro, oceans within 50 miles of Worcester and still get to know animal life at parks and safaris - a perfect place to raise our kids!
