Samantha arrived in the Philippines July 2005 and served for ten years as a Kindergarten teacher at Faith Academy, a school for missionary children. During her time at Faith, she used her weekends and holidays caring for babies and toddlers at a local orphanage, which soon moved into helping with respite care and finally fostering.
Later, she decided to move from teaching to working full time with orphans and street kids.
After some time in the US to raise support, she returned to Manila. She arrived back in February 2017 and has been focusing on language study. In 2018, she plans to finish her formal language study while continuing to practice the language as she tutors and helps at a local orphanage. She is also gaining language practice by helping one day a week at a local child center for disadvantage children in the community.
Dream and Goal
She also is in the process of renewing her foster license and opening her home to a new child. She hopes to spread awareness of adoption and foster care in the Filipino community over the coming year and begin a network of foster families in her church community.
