GOD CALLED and WE RESPONDED!  In 2001, at the ages of 53 and 49, we sold our house and "stuff" in Cleveland Ohio, kissed our kids and grandkids goodbye, and moved to the Philippines.  We probably looked crazy to some people!  We were  far from what some would call the "typical" candidates for missions, but God recycles people that say "YES, LORD" and He equips those He calls to carry His Good News, the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are the FACE 2 FACE team.

The heart of FACE 2 FACE is relational evangelism with a focus on compassion and mercy.  By meeting real needs through practical action steps, "with no strings attached," we show sincere care and God opens doors of opportunities to share His grace and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. 

ADVOCACY: As advocates for the poor and prison inmates, our feet have followed the Lord from the province of Batangas to the mountains of Nueva Vizcaya to the business district of Makati and into the jails.  Our evangelism and advocacy continues with leadership involvment in the social welfare programs of  The American Association of the Philippines and Philippine-American Guardian Assoc.   Both organizations assist Fil-Am children living in poverty. 

JAIL WORK: We minister with the ladies of the women's prison, CIW, Correctional Institution for Women in Mandaluyong. At the national men's prison, New Billibid in Muntinlupa houses nearly 12,000 inmates  in maximum security, where we base our missionary work. We disciple 9 inmate leaders through weekly  Bible studies as well as develop creative strategies to evangellize the prison population through personal concern and care.  With the help of God's people, F2F has been able to build a cistern (thanks Arlene, Mike and Millcreek), plant gardens, replace a burned out roof (thanks GCF) , and distribute Biblical materials in the mother tongue languages of  prisoners, including non Christians.  (thanks Pstr Troy,  Missy and translators here)

All FACE 2 FACE activities prioritize evangelism. 

Some ideas for 2009:

• Continue to focus on health and nutrition projects with  more cisterns that supply and contain a cleaner water supply and decrease flooding and diseases, b.p. machines, helping sanitation by building dirty (outdoor) kitchens, gardens, composting, and possible introduction of fish ponds for livelihood as well.
• Monthly fellowship lunches for unchurched inmates.
• Launch a Philippine version of the US  rehab program "Scared Straight" for high risk youth. 
• Basketball game between inmates and our GCF church pastors. (GCF  = Greenhills Christian Fellowship-Ortigas, our church family that we love and treasure. Check their website too. 

We are committed to serving forever in the Philippines, unless God tells us otherwise.
