It’s been 21 months without a vehicle, but that’s soon to change… with a little help!
What:Purchase a second-hand 7-seater Peugeot 5008 or Citroen Grand C4 Picasso with lower km's and a one-year warrenty
Where: Preferably in Sevilla however, better deals are sometimes found in Madrid
When: UPDATE: While we are able to purchase a vehicle without our license, we've recently been told that we can't insure it without our license. So we will purchase as soon as that's in place.
Budget: Up to 10,500 euros.
Why: One giant step forward in attaining the freedom to be more involved in Church life, participate in group outings, maintain good testimony in Kai & Ethan’s recreational commitments (by being able to go to games even if carpooling isn’t an option), save time running errands (grocery shopping)… and besides, all our church people, community & recreational friends are telling us we really need a vehicle!! They're looking forward to it just as much as we are :D
We are so thankful for the connections and relationships we have built simply because we have no vehicle! From meeting other parents and making friends during the 2.8 km (round-trip) walk to school (twice a day) to Kai & Ethan either being razzed or high-fived by the bus drivers depending on which futbol jersey they're wearing to expressing our need for community as we've received rides to appointments, daytime outings, church services, etc etc., we definitely see how God has been working through this present lack! And yet…
…The rubber on our (3rd pair of) shoes has all but worn out. Minutes waiting at the bus stop have accumulated into hours into days. An exceptional amount of money has been spent on taxis and UBERs. And now, as a family of 5, transportation has become that much more challenging since taxi's are not licensed to carry 5 passengers and the vast majority of our the people in our circles have 5-passenger vehicles which means we need to divide into 2 cars. The bus system has been our friend, but even there we're limited because of the time restraints.
Before moving to Spain, we raised one-time funds for a family vehicle, yet with the arrival of our daughter, our needs have changed… and are more expensive! And so we are asking YOU to consider coming alongside us with a one-time gift to help us meet our $5,000 CAD vehicle top-up goal.
To Say Thank You, for taking part in blessing us (and our community by easing their load), for every $150 contributed, we will put your name in to win either a package of locally made items (chocolate, olive oil, jewellery, ceramics, etc) or a local fútbol jersey.
Remember: A tax-receipt is issued for ALL contributions $10+.
Please Note:
-Mark contributions as "Special Project: Sayer Vehicle"
-Surplus monies raised here will release funds from our original account to contribute to ongoing language learning.
“My WORK is what happens at home while taking care of the household! The reason we’re in Spain is because we have a relationship with Jesus and believe His love changes lives. So, our MISSION is to give each person we interact with the opportunity to have an encounter with His love as well!” Joy
After being accepted as members and global workers of ACTION in 2010, Rich and Joy, together with Malakai & Ethan served in Uganda before moving to Spain in 2017. Hannah joined the family one year later.
In a formal capacity, the Sayers are a part of a bi-lingual international church just outside of Sevilla where Rich serves on the pastoral support team and Joy leads the young teens ministry.
Informally, the Sayers are invested in relationships both within and outside the faith community. From connecting on the fútbol pitch, at the playground, a café, the bus stop or, very often, in their home, the ever-growing conviction and sensitivity to be in tune with what Holy Spirit is prompting to be spoken (or the silence be held) grows, believing that the LORD has the advantage of seeing beyond the physical into the readiness of each heart (1 Samuel 16:7).
