Maleah Bell
Hi! My name is Maleah Bell, and I am a fifth-semester nursing student at Biola University. In my free time, I love to read, bake, play games, spend time outdoors, and hang out with family and friends. I am currently involved in a soccer ministry where I coach a girls’ club team. In the past, I have traveled to multiple countries with this organization for the purpose of sports ministry.
I am so excited for this distance placement and the opportunity to travel to a new country, experience a new culture, and serve the people there. I am most looking forward to seeing the ways the Lord is going to work. I am also excited to experience a new kind of nursing, outside of hospital walls and in the community! I have no doubt that I will learn so much on this trip and I am expecting my faith to grow in new ways.
I have been blessed with the opportunity to travel to Manila, Philippines, to serve in medical missions at Shalom Birthing Clinic. In a community where only 25% of the poorest mothers receive maternity care, I will spend my weekdays in a clinical setting—providing maternity care at Shalom or rotating with partner ministries offering adult, pediatric, emergency, or community-based care. On weekends, I will worship alongside the locals and participate in local outings that blend clinical service, ministry, and recreation.
Most importantly, this trip will provide hands-on experience that will deepen my understanding of what it truly means to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
Leading up to the trip, I would appreciate prayer that the Lord would provide financially. I would also love prayer that He would prepare my heart for everything the trip will hold and that He would open my eyes to the work He is doing here at home and abroad.
