Ben & Faren Sojourner
Benjamin and Faren Sojourner followed the call of God to Ecuador with one clear purpose: to make the Gospel known. Their message is summed up in the prophecy of Christ in Isaiah 61:1, and their approach in Mark 10:27. By supporting their community with love and establishing foundations of truth, they desire to make Jesus known through the Word of God and their partnership and co-labouring with the Holy Spirit.
The rural valleys they serve in are home to families who have little access to biblical teaching, pastoral support, or Christian community. Benjamin and Faren are serving in a region with no local church, no discipleship resources, and no accessible counselling or pastoral care. Their presence in their rural community is part of a long-term vision to establish a stable Gospel foundation where none currently exists. While investing deeply in ministry, both Ben and Faren work online, with Ben also completing his degree in theology at the South African Theological Seminary and Faren serving as a Christian therapist across Canada and the UK.
Their mission begins with offering a drop-in family counselling and ministry office. Their aim is to provide a place of prayer, biblical guidance, and tangible support for needs such as food, clothing, shelter, and medical assistance, when possible, to anyone who comes through their doors. Their longer-term goal is planting a discipleship school and a church where families can learn, worship, pray for one another, share testimonies, and experience authentic Christian community.
As a couple, Benjamin and Faren love hosting partners from supporting churches, leaders, and aspiring Christian missionaries who have a heart for Ecuador, desire to participate on the ground, and who want to see the Gospel advance in the country.
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Matthew 28:19-20
