Kathy Ioanidis - Short-term Internship to Community House Damaris, Greece

My name is Kathy Ioanidis and I am a second year student in the Intercultural Studies program at Prairie College. I am prepping for my third year which includes an 8-month cross-cultural missionary experience, ministry, and internship. The first and last month of this will be serving in different ministries around the world with a team of 5 students, going to up to 9 different countries total. There we will be able to see how God is working around the world and what ministries and people He is working through. The middle 6 months include an internship of our choosing where our team splits up to go to our own sites.
My internship will be in Athens, Greece, with the Community House Damaris, which is a safe house for women and children who are at risk of human trafficking or sexual exploitation. This house offers a recovery program which assists and cares for these women who are seeking refuge in Athens.
I have always had a heart for missions, and specifically fighting against human trafficking as it is a burden that God has put on my heart to fight. I was raised in a Christian home and God has shown me throughout my life that this is the calling He has for me. I believe interning at Community House Damaris is an opportunity to see what it is truly like in the fight against human trafficking as I can hopefully make an impact as I serve there.
As an intern, my job will be to assist in the daycare that they have for the kids of the participants, navigate the city with the participants, and lead practical skills classes like jewelry or pottery making, baking, etc. I would love to be able to build relationships with these women and show them the love that Christ has for them, enough that it would change their lives and bring them to healing.
Please consider giving a donation to help Kathy realize her desire to reach out and serve trafficked women and their children.
