¡Hola! My name is Marcus Montgomery, and I am super pumped to go serve in Honduras this spring. I believe that God has called me into this opportunity, to stretch and grow me in areas of my faith and trust in him, and I’m also praying that he would use me diligently for his purposes towards the people in Honduras that I will be encountering, specifically the youth. 

God has been so good to me throughout my entire life, and in these last few years I have really felt a calling to fully embrace what it means to be “born of God”. It means to be modeled after him; to trust in him; to go where he leads me, even if I can’t always see the road ahead. 

In the summer of 2025, after feeling the prompting of the Spirit and encouragement of friends, I went on a short-term trip to Rwanda in Africa. It was a really eye-opening experience, and I know that God used it (and is still using it) to change me and those around me, as well as those that I got to befriend while there. One of the things that really stood out to me is the awesomeness of being connected to someone through Christ who is in a completely different setting and culture than me. I actually still message the engineer that we were working with while there, (and with a lot of help from Google Translate) I have shared prayers with him.

Looking ahead, it has felt like so many doors have opened up wide to allow for this to trip to happen. I want to follow where God leads me, so who am I to turn away from this path? In this last year, I have been given the opportunity to service in my church as an AWANA leader for the 3rd-5th graders, as well as an assistant youth group leader for the middle schoolers. So when discussing how a big part of what I’ll be doing in Honduras is working with the youth in the school and church, this really felt like it was where I should be. There is a fulfilling aspect of being an encouragement to those around you, and to help them as they walk the hard yet beautiful journey of following Christ. One thing that I am especially excited for is the amount of time that I will be able to be in Honduras. Over the period of three months, that is a perfect opportunity to build trust and relationships with those around me, something that is often a huge aid in sharing the good news.
