Petros Yergatian

My name is Petros Yergatian, from British Columbia, Canada. I have been married to my wife lovely Arlene for the past 12 years with three adult children, one grandson and a second grandchild on the way.
I have been involved in missions since my first mission trip to Israel in 1986. I have also been involved with our church missions committee for over 20 years and have visited some of our missionaries over the years to encourage and support them in their ministry.
Over the past 13 years, I have been directing and coordinating a number of projects throughout Africa for our evangelical denomination. Projects involved in community development in Zimbabwe, outreach and assistance to Congolese refugees in Uganda, as well as supporting those living in poverty in the garbage dump cities of Cairo, Egypt.
Over the past five years our primary focus has been to work with local churches in Rwanda and Uganda, in initiating and developing a discipleship movement to preach the Gospel, then bring the new believers to a level of maturity to become disciple makers themselves, thus developing a multiplication model. This has proved very successful with hundreds coming to Christ. The work has now expanded into South Sudan and Kenya. The life-saving message of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection, and salvation through repentance is readily accepted by those who are touched by the Holy Spirit.
Our hope and prayer is that we can initiate this evangelistic work with partners in other countries and beyond Africa, as God directs us. This will involve training and equipping indigenous churches in the discipleship movement. We also offer training, encouragement and support to those churches and individuals as they reach their communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ.
