Philippines: Project: Pag-asa Internship

Description:

Depending on the time you have available, an internship might look like supporting a teacher in the classroom by working with students with high learning needs or tutoring struggling students. If you are able to be involved longer, you may be able to take responsibility for your own class and create lessons. We teach kindergarten to grade 10 subjects including Math, English, Science, Filipino, Filipino History, PE, Art, and Music. If you desire, there may also be opportunities to be involved with our partner orphanages outside of school hours.

Outside of teaching, we can use people who are skilled at videography, photography, art, music, and more. Has God gifted you with a unique passion or ability? Let us know! We would love to help you use that gift to serve Him through ministry with us!

Requirements:

  • Have a relationship with God and desire to develop it further.
  • Have a willingness to learn and be stretched through difficult situations and new environments.
  • Have a servant’s heart and love for God's people.
  • Have the ability to work in a team and to respectfully follow leadership.
  • Be sensitive and trustworthy with confidential information.
  • Have a heart for children and experience working with kids of all ages.
  • Be comfortable to take public transportation.
  • Have recovered from personal trauma before coming. You will be working with children and teens with significant trauma. Know yourself and your own trauma, to know if you can handle the triggers.
  • Be at least 20 years old.
  • Time commitment of at least one month.
  • We are a Bilingual school with both English and Tagalog speaking teachers. Many subjects are taught in English and our students learn English as part of our programming. Speaking Tagalog is not required, but would be an asset.
