Zambia: Camp Ciyanjano Facilities Manager
Ministry Areas: Ciyanjano Camping and Conference Ministry also act as support for other ACTION Zambia Ministries including, but not limited to:
- Short-Term Team Ministry
- Children’s Ministry (Children in Crisis)
- Pastoral Leadership Development (PLD)
- CROSS Project HIV/AIDS Ministry
Overall Responsibility:
The Camp Ciyanjano Facilities Manager will facilitate grounds maintenance and assist with Ciyanjano development goals.
General Responsibilities:
- Repairs and upkeep to structures at Camp Ciyanjano
- Maintain safety standard and building codes
- Oversee and participate in building projects as assigned
- Maintain vehicles, small machinery, power tools and appliances
- Storage, repair, replacement, and upkeep of all equipment
- Monitor and maintain water system, including all plumbing infrastructure and supply
- Arrange for repair of all systems
- Purchase of maintenance and building supplies and tools as instructed
- Lead STT work projects that involve construction and development
- Participate in and coordinate activities for STT missions trips, including purchasing supplies
- Supervise any maintenance help or assistants
- Oversee national staff for groundskeeping
- Work as liaison to local council/provincial authorities for building and development projects
Qualifications:
- Good knowledge of the building trade, with willingness to learn the Zambian building trade
- Works well with others, good supervisory experience, able to show authority when necessary
- Skills listed in order of importance:
- Basic electrical works (changing light fixtures, MCB switches, basic wiring, understanding of battery backup systems, solar, etc.)
- Basic plumbing skills (changing out toilet siphons, fixings faucets, traps, problem-solving major issues with water storage tanks, ball valves and shut-off switches
- Landscaping and design for large areas
- Basic carpentry skills
- Small machinery repair
- Must be in good physical condition
- Must be able to work autonomously to work through multiple projects simultaneously
- Must be at least 18 years old
- A growing Christian interested in discipleship with national staff
- Active in a local church
- Recommended by a pastor and church
- Teachable/Adaptable
- Able to persevere in difficult circumstances
- Good sense of humor
- Not easily discouraged
- Spiritually mature
- Able to accept various leadership styles
