Philippines: Brand New Day Carlo's Heart Surgery

Believe it or not, Carlo was the very first child from Brand New Day’s outreach to make a decision to leave the street, go back to school, and pursue a relationship with Jesus. He had been sleeping on the street since the age of 6 when the BND team encountered him at age 14. He met God during a Street Impact Team evangelistic camp in 2010, started school soon after and later that year entered the Honest Hands Discipleship program. After finishing Honest Hands, Carlo continued to pursue his ALS tutorial studies, finally passing the Elementary level exam and then entering into public school in grade 7. He’s currently in grade 12 and hoping to be an Electrical Engineer and a Pastor.

Soon after Carlo left the streets, a doctor discovered he had a severe mitral valve prolapse of his heart. For a few years, it’s been maintained through medicine. However, at a recent cardiologist visit, the doctor informed us that his heart has reached a point where he needs open-heart valve repair surgery soon to prevent further irreparable damage to his heart.
