Please pray for 12-year-old RG, one of Brand New Day’s boys living in the shelter. He arrived at BND in May of 2020, found wandering the streets and referred to us by a local social welfare office. At his first check up while at BND, RG was diagnosed with an inguinal hernia but the doctors said there was no immediate rush for the hernia repair surgery. Early in 2021 the doctor said the same thing but that sooner would be better to repair the hernia. Last week, RG started experiencing more pain and swelling in the area, and at his check up the doctor says the repair should be done as soon as possible to avoid infection and emergency abdominal surgery.

If the surgery is done preventatively and with no complications, the surgeon says he should be in and out of the hospital in 2-3 days. The surgeon and hospital are not able to give us an exact estimate of price, but basing on Krista’s surgery last year at the same hospital, we are estimating the cost to be between $3000-$4000. There will be additional costs due to the pandemic such as a PCR test for RG and whoever will stay with him in the hospital, and for preventative measures at the hospital.
