Coronavirus Crisis - We Are Praying and Taking Action

Coronavirus Crisis - We Are Praying and Taking Action

Greetings from our American headquarters near Seattle, which as you know was the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak in our country. Within 20 miles of where I sit, we currently have 823 confirmed cases, with 49 people having passed away.

We are grateful to God that, although we are taking prudent precautions, our office is open and functioning. What is not functioning normally is the general routine of life here in the area due to the closures and restrictions.

We are praying every day for our state and federal officials to make wise decisions as our country and the world faces this crisis. We are also praying for you, that the Lord will protect you and your family, and that the disruption from this unprecedented time would not negatively impact you.

Our missionaries on the field are rapidly adjusting to the threat of the virus and also the government response to the crisis - that means having to cancel many ministry trips, in-person training sessions for new missionaries, and field conferences. Due to severe travel restrictions in some countries like the Philippines, even local ministry will be extremely difficult over the next 30 days.

Nonetheless, as we quickly adjust to these rapidly changing times, many of our ministry teams are now brainstorming ways to help, and already seeing God open new doors of opportunity. For example, this weekend in Cuba, the ACTION team will be distributing Bibles and small financial gifts to local churches so that they can reach their communities with the Gospel and compassionate care. This will have a big impact in a country where the admonition to “wash your hands regularly with soap” is a substantial challenge because in most places there is no soap!

May God assist you and your extended family in making all necessary preparations. If after doing so — and over and above your church offering — you would like to assist our missionary teams in reaching needs globally, we will be grateful for gifts to our Disaster Relief Fund at this time. Our teams will be springing into action worldwide to help as we are able.
