Disaster Relief Efforts in Bangladesh
No matter how advanced our technology becomes, there’s still nothing we can do but flee when the rain won’t stop. Flooding continues to devastate communities around the world, and—as always—the poorest suffer the most.
Earlier this week, ACTION field workers wrote to share about the impact of relentless flooding in their region of Bangladesh where they lead a church-planting effort. They’ve asked for $3,000 to help provide food for 150 families for one month while cleanup efforts begin. Crops have been destroyed and food stores ruined in many areas where the church-planting team is serving.
By God’s grace, ACTION has reserve funds set aside for disaster relief and is able to meet the most urgent need. However, we’re sharing this opportunity, because we don’t want to deplete those reserves completely—we want to keep responding with the love of Christ wherever and whenever disaster strikes, especially in areas with little access to the gospel.
Often in the wake of such disasters, people are not only in physical need but also deeply aware of their spiritual need. These are moments when hearts are more open to the good news of Jesus—our Creator, Redeemer, and the One who renews all things.
Thank you for the generous ways you’ve supported ACTION’s disaster relief in the past. As the return of the Lord draws nearer, Scripture tells us that natural disasters will increase. May we remain alert and ready—eager to both demonstrate and declare the gospel in times of crisis, until He comes.
