No Power, No Water, No Problem...He is Risen!

No Power, No Water, No Problem...He is Risen!

“For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures…”  I Corinthians 15:3

The last several months has seen our water and power cut daily. I would LOVE to say that it hasn’t been a problem, but that might be stretching the truth. We’re very much in touch with our (sinful) humanity and have at times been frustrated…irritable and given to spontaneous grumbling (very ‘children of Israel’ of us). In the midst, God is gracious and long-suffering with us, showing his faithful provision and sustenance in every area of our lives.

The Passion Week pointed us to Christ, His suffering on our behalf, and His finished work on the cross. On Easter, we celebrated the resurrection of Christ, and we were privileged to be in the midst of a first generation Church here in Cambodia.

Our discomforts are momentary - thank you for standing with us!

Here are a few praises and prayer requests:

Praises:

  • Encouraged by all that God continues to do in Cambodia…specifically through Action Cambodia and Shalom Mission Cambodia. You might be interested in this recent article by World Magazine. Thankful that Chhinho Saing is our new Field Director! It will be good to serve alongside and under the leadership of our Khmer colleague.
  • Our International Council meetings with ACTION were last month in Calgary, Canada. I was affirmed for another 3-year term as the Associate International Director for our worldwide team.
  • Excited to meet with several ACTION teammates who are also working among UPG’s (unreached people groups) in South Asia and the Middle East. We’re trusting the Lord for more field workers called to take the Gospel to hard places!
  • Blessed to see Nathan, Bora, and Ro celebrate the completion and distribution of the Jesus Story Book Bible in Khmer!

Prayer:

  • Pray for the new project in Mondulkiri Province where Shalom is establishing a ministry center.
  • Pray for the staffing needs at Logos and Asian Hope International Schools for the 2019-20 year.
  • Pray for the Quey family as they are in language school (they arrived on the field this past August) & the Van Halteren family as they prepare to join us in August.
  • Pray for the new batch of career missionary candidates who are going through orientation this month with ACTION
