Patrick & Shalyn O'Connor

Patrick was called to Latin America after his conversion in college, and served there many years, but lost his late-wife to cancer in 2021. When Shalyn lost her husband to cancer in 2020, she sensed a call and desire to serve as a missionary and later Patrick. Together, Patrick and Shalyn now live and serve along the desperately needy Mexico Texas border for 1) outreach into Mexico and 2) to come alongside a valuable border-ministry training school, the Rio Grande Bible Institute.
They are often asked, how long do they anticipate staying on the mission field. Patrick and Shalyn’s sending agency encourages them to use life and strength for ministry along the border for as many years as the Lord permits.
Moving to the Texas Mexico border was a bit of a faith-risk but they are hoping and praying to see God’s will and glory and ministry realized along the border.
Please pray with us for:
R = Relations Relations with the Lord, one’s spouse and with the host audience is the most important foundation for life and service. Relationships precede ministry, from
which ministry becomes the fruit therein.
C = Communications The ebb and flow of communication is dynamic and sometimes difficult -- misunderstanding can take place, easily. Cross-cultural communication with the
host audience along the border, with disciples, community neighbors, yet also with
supporters, Grace Church, other supporting churches, grandchildren and seven
very-adult children (who all reside in WA) is a very big time-requirement, and
with expectations by ALL involved.
A = Aspects of Life Border is different than life back home, with many complexities or aspects of life for cross-cultural service.
