Zambia: Children in Crisis
Children are in crisis all over Zambia and especially in Lusaka. Half of the country’s population is aged 16 years or younger, many are orphaned, and even more live in poverty in the compounds around Lusaka.
Right now, ACTION Zambia’s primary outreaches to children in crisis are our children’s ministries based at Ciyanjano, which are our Bible Clubs and the Football Club, in addition to two Feeding Programs, one in Mtendere compound, which reaches over 400 children a week, and another in George Compound, which reaches about 100 HIV-positive children each week. AZ also supports Mweetwa’s OVC Community School in Kanyama Compound with money for firewood for their weekly feeding program.
ACTION Zambia also supports two church-based community schools.
We are currently seeking a full-time career missionary family to come and work with Children in Crisis Ministry. If you feel that God may be leading you in this direction, please contact Derek Dearth to learn more about the opportunities we have in Lusaka with ACTION Zambia!
