Marco & Claudia van de Merwe

Send a Note Start a Campaign
Marco and Claudia have purchased a former seminary campus and use it to reach children near Camaqua, Brazil through Bible clubs, and regular home group and church meetings.

They hope to educate local farmers in productive farming techniques to prevent family disintegration and children going to the street. It is a project located in the southern part of Brazil and it is called Fazenda Emanuel (Emanuel Farm). It is a street children prevention project, located 8 km from Camaqua, in the countryside, in the province of Rio Grande do Sul.

Their mission is to help children and teenagers a step further on the path of becoming the best that they can be spiritually, mentally and physically, in such a way that they may glorify God and enjoy His presence forever. This project is located in the poorest part of the province. They work with poor children and their families, where the majority of the parents are semi or illiterate. And God has given them the vision to prepare these children to the future, whether they stay in the countryside or move to the city.

The strategy that God has given them to reach these children is through education. The children receive Bible study, help with their homework, tutoring in the areas where they are weak at school, crafts, recreation, sports and art lessons (music, dance, drama and mime). They are now on the stage of setting vocational courses for teenagers. At the moment, the Lord has given them the vision to reach the families of the children as well, through discipleship and pastoral counseling, Bible Study and evangelism at Fazenda Emanuel. They meet with the families on a weekly basis, every Thursday night.

The Lord has given them the vision to come to this place to make the difference among the needy and poor.
