Hi! I’m Amanda and I am so excited about this opportunity to go to Vienna, Austria to serve at the Oasis refugee center and at Kirche in der Fabrik for the month of September. My host, Leanne, is the deaconess of women’s ministry at this church and she also serves at the refugee center. I will be supporting her in both ministries to share the love of Christ. Many of the refugees are Muslim or from a Muslim background but enjoy spending time at the Oasis which offers clothing, German classes and family fun times. We will also present Bibles, Christian literature and the Jesus Film in many languages to them. My goal will be to build relationships and spend my time supporting the ministry and the families. I am sprucing up my German and will be learning some Farsi and Arabic phrases!

Thank you so much for considering supporting this mission financially. I have included some highlights below of my journey, so far. And of course, I am happy to answer any questions you might have. After many years in an academic setting and the death of my husband, I am looking forward to fulfilling His call for me to be His hands and His feet “on the ground” once again, this time in Vienna, where He has led me.

I am currently a committed partner with Salty Church, Flagler Beach campus. I lead a weekly Bible study, organize the Connection Welcome Committee, coach our women’s group leaders and serve with our Salty Family Services Ministry with the CallBack Team for needy families in our area. I received a Master of Biblical Studies in 2000, and God has now led me to attend Liberty University online for a Doctorate in Ministry/Spiritual Formation. I will start classes in October when I return from Vienna! My special focus will be the spiritual discipline of fasting. You can learn more by reading my blog, Happy Hunger, at www.amandabew.com

I have been a Christian for over 50 years and each year shows me how thankful I am to surrender and serve Him, wherever He leads. And He has led me to some pretty interesting places on mission trips: The Philippines, Korea, Hong Kong, Watts LA, China, Argentina and Costa Rica. I was on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ for 4 years, including a fascinating year in China, which led to four more years in Hong Kong, served as a Groups Assistant Pastor in Charlotte for 4 years at Forest Hill Church, founded an infertility ministry called The Hannah’s Heart Network and spent 6 years serving at the Christian Coach Institute, training hundreds of Christians to become certified Christian coaches. I have also been certified myself at the Professional Certified Coach level from International Coach Federation for over 6 years.

Thank you for your support and especially for your prayer support! I will update you weekly on my needs and the needs of the refugee center and the people God will place in my life.
