Anja is the daughter of missionaries, born and raised in Paraguay. Since 10 years of age, God has given her vision towards the protection of more vulnerable children and adolescents, separated from their families. René is an “authentic” Paraguayan whom God called to follow and serve Him while still a youth, to reach the younger generation Paraguay, which he has since pursued in varying ways. They met in their local church “More Than Conquerors” in Paraguay, both already fully engaged in ministerial service; four years later (in January 2014 to be exact) they joined their lives in marriage, with a shared vision to serve God in their country as a family.
Vision for children and youth
Having himself been a teenager with the struggles and difficulties that any face, René is passionate about helping other young people in similar situations, with a message of hope, a healthy lifestyle free from destructive habits, and with self-esteem and personal value that only God can fully give. In different ways and through various organizations (such as Youth Impact, More Than Conquerors church and foundation Jesus Responds to the World Today), he has worked toward this, preparing workshops for teenagers, supporting massive youth events, developing programs in high schools, and strengthening local churches to reach out to their community schools, etc. Anja has dreamed, and continues to dream, of seeing children in Paraguay live fully according to God’s original plan, within healthy families and protective communities. Through her service and training with YWAM, her law studies at the National University of Asuncion, her service directing the ministry Viva Network Paraguay, and her work with the Paraguayan government as well as the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights of the Organization of American States (OAS), she has not only gained enriching experience but has also found different ways to exercise her calling in this field.
Youth evangelism and discipleship
René lives out a long-standing passion in reaching youth for Christ, especially those at risk, through speaking in schools and community events, organizing youth camps, bible studies, and training local churches in effective follow-up in their communities, in home visits, family strengthening, mentorship programs, and youth activities.
Child and youth advocacy
Anja continues to serve in God-given opportunities, for the protection and well-being of more vulnerable children and youth, within national and international systems of government and human rights law, as well as in the local Church, promoting healthy families and family care such as, foster care, residential homes, and adoption.
“We simply seek to serve in our country, using our God-given gifts and talents to reach others, as part of the Church’s calling. Join us.”
