Nepal: Human Development and Community Services (HDCS)

Established in 1991, Human Development and Community Services (HDCS) is a faith-based NGO working in three main sectors of health, education, and community development. Currently, it manages various projects across Nepal especially in rural regions and provides services through hospitals, health camps, public health programs, school development programs, teacher training, educational daycare centres for special needs children and community radio stations. HDCS aims to improve the quality of health services and education facilities for the impoverished communities and to increase access to, and use of quality health care, education and livelihood opportunities for the poor and underprivileged without discrimination.

Objectives: 

– To provide access to, and use of affordable and quality health service to the poor and marginalised people;

– To provide access to, and improve the quality of education in rural, public and community schools;

– To provide inclusive education to remove the stigma in order to facilitate the integration of children and young adults with disabilities into mainstream society;

– To empower underserved and underprivileged communities by improving their livelihood through availing right platform, providing material support, and demand and supply-side advocacy.
