Since 1974, ACTION Philippines missionaries have been ministering among the poor in and around Metro Manila. Today, ACTION’s team in the Philippines is composed of 40 foreign missionaries from eight different countries partnering with more than 30 local ministry workers and numerous Filipino volunteers. From our Metro Manila roots, ACTION’s team has branched out to needy communities in Antipolo City, Silang Cavite, Cebu City, Olongapo City, Malaybalay, and Iloilo.

Ministries of Action Philippines include:

Ministry to Children in Crisis:

STREET IMPACT TEAM / Support A Child Save A Future is a ministry targeting the street children of Metro Manila and other key cities nationwide.  They reach children through networking with local churches. The ministries of SITeam include feeding programs, tutoring out of school youth and street outreaches.  Dave & Becky Majam lead the ministry and are assisted by Al & Sonie Tadeo.

HONEST HANDS, another ministry at Second Mile, primary focus is discipling former street boys and school drop outs.  Each student is taught the Bible with an emphasis on character development and practical Christian living.  The program is led by Greg & Sarah Seiling.

BRAND NEW DAY is a ministry to children in crisis in Silang, Cavite near ACTION’s Second Mile Campus.  The ministry operates a drop-in center for street kids and offers an Alternative Learning System curriculum to out of school youth.  The ministry is co-led by Erin Johnson and Krista Laroza. Matt & Becki Beack also work with children at Brand New Day.

Catie Smith ministers in a resettlement community in Iloilo. She partners with a local Church in ministry focused on needy children and community development.

Adam & Alei Hussey serve by doing videos for ACTION ministries and missionaries.  They are also involved in ministry to children-in-crisis called FAITH HOPE LOVE.

Ron Homenuke serves with LIFEHOUSE CENTER in Olongapo City. This ministry provides residential care and educational sponsorship to children from dysfunctional families. Another aspect of the ministry is a farm designed to help sustain the ministry long term.

Raffy & Susan Sison work with KIDS’ HOME in Antipolo City. KIDS’ Home provides residential care for 8-12 former street boys, has a community Alternative Learning program, as well as regular medical outreach and church services.

Andy & Doreen Zuberbuehler are seconded from Globe Mission in Germany to ACTION Philippines. They have started a ministry called TIMOTHY PROJECT which partners with a local Church in Malaybaly, Mindanao to promote foster care for needy children. They’ve also launched a residential care home for orphaned children in the area called Lighthouse Home for Kids.

Medical Ministry to the Poor:

SHALOM CHRISTIAN BAHAY PA-ANAKAN’s vision is to share the message of new birth in Christ with the poor. Along with this we strive to make good maternity care available to those with minimal finances.  Shalom midwives deliver around 75 babies a month. Missionary nurses Cindy Gingerich and Pami Ellis lead the ministry at Shalom.

Vocational Discipleship Ministry:

ACTION’s Second Mile ministry campus in Cavite offers vocational training and discipleship for young people.  WORKING HANDS equips young men with vocational skills in wood technology, welding and computer programming.  But more importantly, the program strives to produce young men who will think Biblically and be ready to serve in their local churches. Gary & Melita Root took charge of Working Hands in 2016.

Shelley Conradson works with CREATOR’S CRITTERS in Cebu City. Her ministry provides discipleship and vocational training to former street kids.

Ministry to Church Leaders:

ACTION Missionaries George & Anne HarperSeni & Lose Finau and Kathryn Ann & Kumar Aryal, under ACTION’s PASTORAL LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT (PLD) continue to teach local seminaries educating church leaders from throughout Asia

LIFE DISCIPLESHIP, also a PDL ministry, is a discipleship series using material that trains church leaders from diverse backgrounds on how to counsel others from a biblical perspective.  Paul & Pat Ellis serve in the Life Discipleship to groups of pastors and church leaders in the Visayan Islands.

New ACTION missionaries, Apollo and Bettina Malait, are working with a ministry to needy rural churches. They lead seminars on worship and help churches with practical matters of church governance and government registration. Their ministry, JAB’S CALL, would also fit into ACTION’s PLD department.

Education Ministries:

ACTION also helps supply teachers and staff to FAITH ACADEMY, a school long committed to educating the children of missionaries. ACTION missionaries, Mark & Melissa Ellis serve at Faith. Melissa teaches in the elementary while Mark works with student outreach. Mike Gingerich serves on the Faith Academy Board of Trustees as treasurer.

PROJECT PAG-ASA is a school for orphan children in Antipolo City run by ACTION missionaries, Tom & Beth Potter. The school provides education to around 40 children from orphanages in the area.

In Language School:

Mike & Tracy Burr and Samantha Zipp are currently preparing for ministry as they study Tagalog and Filipino culture at language schools in the Greater Metro Manila area.

Mike Gingerich is currently the Field Director for ACTION Philippines.
